DoorState
An "on air" sign for your studio door.
An Android tablet on the wall is the display and the server.
Switch it from any phone on the wifi. No cloud, no account, no subscription.
Tap or click the sign to switch it, like you would from a phone.
How it works
- Install one APK on a tablet running Android 8 or newer (sideloaded via adb) and make it the home screen. It shows the current state full screen and starts on boot.
- Tap the tablet to reveal a QR code. Scan it with a phone and add the control page to your home screen. No app on the phone, just the browser.
- Tap a button on your phone. The sign changes instantly, and so does everyone else's phone.
Why DoorState
- Everything stays on your wifi. The tablet serves the control page itself. Nothing leaves the building.
- Your states, your words, your colours. ON AIR, STARTING SOON, FREE, or whatever you call them. As many as you need, edited from the phone.
- Optional access control. A random token guards the control page. Share the QR code to grant access, change the token to revoke it.
- Scriptable. Anything that can send an HTTP POST can flip the sign: a Stream Deck button, Home Assistant, a shell script.
- Runs on hardware you already have. Any tablet running Android 8 or newer. Mount it, plug it in, forget it.
